Working Principle of Bypass Rotameter A Bypass Rotameter operates on the variable area flow measurement principle based on Bernoulli's theorem. As fluid or gas passes through the tapered tube, a pressure differential is created across the float, causing it to rise until the upward force balances its weight. The increasing flow area within the tapered tube ensures that the float position remains directly proportional to the flow rate, providing accurate and linear flow indication. Bypass Rotameters are especially suitable for hazardous or remote installations where electrical power is unavailable or unsafe. They offer excellent rangeability of 5:1 to 7:1, direct-reading flow scales, and easy maintenance, allowing range changes or tube cleaning without removing the meter from the bypass line.
